In a market where over 20 million POS machines were distributed in Brazil in 2022, processing more than 3 trillion Brazilian Reais in annual TPV, Barte aspires to carve out a significant share of this market with its cutting-edge mobile NFC payment solution.
The problem at hand is how to enter the in-person sales market in a simple, cost-effective manner without altering the existing company's payment structure or investing in new hardware. In response to this challenge, we devised a solution that involved creating a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for the company's first dedicated payment application. This application focuses exclusively on facilitating contactless tap-to-pay transactions using NFC technology with Android smartphones.
We chose to target the Android market due to its wider adoption and lower cost compared to iOS devices, ensuring a broader user base.
Our solution prioritized a user-friendly experience with a streamlined payment process. It not only needed to be easy to use but also exude a modern aesthetic that instills the same level of confidence customers typically associate with physical POS machines.
The product underwent comprehensive validation by users of the Barte platform and is currently in the development phase. With the technology team's dedicated efforts, we anticipate a successful launch in the first quarter of 2024. This project represents a milestone in our journey to revolutionize the B2B payment processing landscape, making it more accessible and efficient for businesses across Brazil.
I played a role in the project as the UX Designer, working closely with a co-designer and engaging in direct collaboration with the project's product managers and the Android development team. This collaboration allowed us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the cost implications and feasibility of our design decisions, ensuring we delivered the best product possible within the project's tight 3-month timeline.
